In this near, yet familiar future, only humanoids and Rita remain immune to the corrosive effects of compost. The girl becomes a hope for the regeneration of society when she discovers the gift of healing with her voice. Her father, a genetic engineer, begins to use her for research, and her mother to promote her art. However, the prestige her parents crave doesn&#039;t compensate for Rita&#039;s lack of love. In rebellion, she falls silent, leading to the disintegration of her family and offering the heroine a chance for freedom.
