Zuzanna Bukłaha

BIO

Born in 1988, she is a reporter for Duży Format and Wysokie Obcasy, and the author of books (including "Ostatni" [The Last One], published by Agora). She is a finalist in Script Pro and Obraz Sobie [Imagine Sobie] competitions, as well as in journalism competitions such as Grand Press. She is a graduate of the Polish School of Reportage and the Wajda School, and a participant in the Warsaw Next workshops.

SYNOPSIS

Anka, a 35-year-old woman in a tracksuit, starts working as a cleaner in a closed center for refugee women. Her husband, Marcin, a border guard, also works there. Anka hides her pregnancy at work to secure a job and insurance. During her first week on the job, a tragic event occurs: Sara, one of the women imprisoned at the center, receives notice of her forced and immediate deportation. In an act of desperation, she sets herself on fire. Moments earlier, the refugee begs Anka to take her son to Germany. Meanwhile, a riot breaks out at the center, and Anka becomes one of the hostages.
