SYNOPSIS

Sisterly love is put to the test when Kaja (20) steals Greta's (22) ticket—the only thing her mother ever gave her—and leaves for France. Provence is a land cloying with wine and musty with class divisions. Kaja begins working as a domestic servant at Regina's estate. Fascinated by her, she is willing to obey her every command in exchange for a gesture of affection. The situation is complicated by Greta's arrival. Regina incites the growing conflict between the sisters, who, competing for her favor, increasingly violate their own and others' boundaries. The conflict culminates during the annual wine festival. Regina throws Kaja out on the street, and Greta welcomes her into the house as the "better daughter." Greta will have to acknowledge her own ruthlessness to free herself from Regina's spell and find her sister.
