Dominika Podczaska

BIO

Director and cinematographer. A graduate of the American Studies Center and Reportage Laboratory at the University of Warsaw, as well as the Global Cinematography Institute in Los Angeles, she has been working professionally behind the camera since 2005. She has created short films, documentaries, music videos, and commercials. She is a graduate of the SCRIPT program at the Wajda School.

SYNOPSIS

Autumn, 1966. In six months, thanks to a Rolling Stones concert, true freedom will be in Poland. For now, empty shelves and stagnation. Twenty-year-old Bida wonders how to avoid drowning in an ocean of hopelessness. He's rejected from film school, yet film is like the air he breathes. Thirsty for artistic expression, he decides to exploit the system and create jaw-dropping material for next year's exam. He takes a job as a cameraman at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and between propaganda assignments, he makes a film about the mysterious Indian Bill. He begins to perilously balance between the worlds of East and West, loyalty and rebellion. On the day of the Rolling Stones concert, he'll have to choose: make a deal with the system, or give up his dreams and, with complete satisfaction, choose freedom.
