Supporting emerging talent, advocating for screenwriters’ rights, and promoting film culture are also central to the Foundation’s work. All of these activities are guided by the values that have shaped Atelier from the very beginning: attentive and collaborative work with creators, high professional standards, and meaningful support for the creative process.

This conviction led to the creation of a nine-month development programme: a space where writers work on feature film projects gradually, in close dialogue with tutors and fellow participants. Over the years, it became clear that developing individual screenplays was only part of the programme’s impact. Equally important was the formation of a new generation of filmmakers, the cultivation of respectful collaboration, and the creation of a culture of mutual support and responsible professional practice. As a result, Atelier has evolved into a community of more than one hundred writers, consultants, filmmakers, and industry professionals who actively contribute to the contemporary film landscape and help shape meaningful change within it. We believe in sensitivity, imagination, and the transformative power they carry.

In 2026, we expanded our activities and established the Atelier Scenariuszowe Foundation, transforming an initiative into an institution. The Foundation creates a space for screenwriters committed to building conscious narratives, engaging with the world around them, and developing their own artistic voice. It is a place of in-depth, high-quality work where project development goes hand in hand with the formation of artistic identity.

The Foundation is a platform for thoughtful creators. Our experience over recent years has shown us that writers need different modes of development, and that shorter formats can be just as valuable as long-term programmes. They do not exclude deep engagement with a text; on the contrary, they often create opportunities for new perspectives, fresh insights, and unexpected creative directions. For this reason, alongside the year-long Atelier Scenariuszowe programme, the Foundation develops a range of shorter initiatives, including workshops, laboratories, and intensive weekend gatherings. Their purpose is to create spaces for the exchange of ideas, the encounter of different dramaturgical practices, and the initiation of new creative processes and new ways of thinking about cinematic storytelling. 

The Foundation is led by its Management Board: Anna Bielak – President of the Board and Creative Director Aleksandra Świerk – Vice President of the Board The Foundation’s activities are supported by the Foundation Council, whose members are: Joanna Szymańska, Norah McGettigan, Filip Kasperaszek, Monika Łuczyk, Karolina Kapusta, and Aneta Posytek.
